An Update from Principal Alba
The latest update for parents and interested students from Principal Alba:
“Good Evening Viera High School Parents
Based on new information received from the state, there has been a change in the way Spring 2015 FSA End of Course Exams (EOC) will count for students. If your student took the FSA Algebra 1 EOC, FSA Geometry EOC, or FSA Algebra 2 EOC the scores on these exams will NOT be calculated as 30% of a student’s yearlong grade.
Student’s semester grade for these three courses will be calculated by averaging the 3rd and 4th nine weeks grades together.
Reminder that the semester exam schedules are posted on our school website under the News section on the top left hand side of the page. Students are released early from school at 2:15 pm the last three days of school, 5/28, 5/29 and 6/1.
No early exams will be permitted. Students that miss their exams will be required to come in during the summer to take their exam.
In order to maintain the learning environment in the classrooms checkouts will not be permitted during an exam period.
Monday, 5/25 is a student holiday in observance of Memorial Day.
Attention Senior Parents – Reminder of the mandatory graduation rehearsal/breakfast next Thursday, May 21st starting at 9:00 am. Students will receive their 6 graduation tickets along with 2 inclement weather tickets after the rehearsal.
Viera High School has won the Cape Coast Conference All Sports Trophy once again this year! Thank you to all our coaches, athletic director and student athletes for all their hard work this past year!! This is the fourth time we have received this recognition during the past six years. This is a wonderful accomplishment given the short time VHS has been open.
We had three student athletes and one coach recognized this past Friday at the Bright House Breakfast of Champions. We are proud of all their accomplishments!
Free athletic physicals are being offered to VHS students on Friday 5/29 at the Health First Sports Medicine office. Students must pre-register with our athletic director, Chris Gallagher, in order to qualify for the free physical.
