An Update from Principal Alba (4/30)

Check out the latest update from Principal Alba for VHS parents and interested students:

“Good Afternoon Viera High School Parents,

Last chance to register for the annual Eat My Crust 5k Run/Walk.  The event is this Sunday, May 3rd.  This is a great way to have fun with family or friends and also support Viera High School athletics.   You can register for this event online at www.vierapizza.com

The semester exam schedule has been posted on our website for all grade levels.  The link can be found under the News section on the top left of our main page.  Please keep this schedule in mind when making appointments for your student.  In order to reduce the distractions during exams we will not permit students to be checked out during a scheduled semester exam.  Thank you for your understanding.

End of Course testing continues next week with the Geometry EOC.  Please ask your student when they are scheduled to test in order to work around any appointments they may have.  The full testing calendar can be found on our school webpage under the Academics tab at the top of the front page.  Students missing an EOC state exam are given a grade of “0” until they take their corresponding EOC test so it is important that they attend their assigned testing session.

Congratulations to the PINK Robotics team for placing 8th in their division in the World Championship this past weekend in St. Louis.  There were over 600 teams from around the world that qualified to compete in this competition.  Great job!

Our VHS Pre-Calculus team earned 3rd place in this year’s district math competition!  We are very proud of these students and their willingness to give up their Saturday morning to represent VHS.  The competition is comprised of a written examination as well as a team speed round set of questions.

The 2015 Congressional Art Competition was held on April 25th in Vero Beach.  VHS had two students earn awards at this annual event!  Great job to these two talented students.

Registration has begun for the VHS Mini Hawk Cheer Camp for girls ages 4-14 years old.  The camp is held at VHS starting June 15th and runs through June 19th.  If you know of any family or friends who may be interested in this camp please let them know to check our school web page for the registration form.  The young girls that attend this event always have a great time and this is also a wonderful fundraiser for our VHS Cheerleading Teams.

Our VHS Softball Team had a huge victory yesterday winning the Regional Semifinal match 11-0!!  They continue their quest to reach the state tournament by competing in the Region Final in Sarasota this Friday.  We wish this very talented team much success and we hope they bring home a victory on Friday!!

Go Hawks!!”
