“Good Afternoon Viera High School Parents
Brevard Public Schools is hosting a Community Budget Forum to discuss the upcoming school budget. This is an opportunity for all Brevard Citizens to voice their ideas and priorities on how the district is spending its yearly budget. The Community Budget Forum for our area will be held at the School Board Building next to the school in the board room on Tuesday, March 3rd from 6:30pm – 8:00 pm
Parents with students with IEPs – we need your feedback. Florida’s annual ESE Parent Survey is available online at www.esesurvey.com. Your feedback is important in helping the state and our school district continue improving educational programs for children with special needs.
Some important dates coming up next month:
3/12 Last day of the 3rd nine weeks grading period
3/13 Student Holiday
3/20 Report cards issued to students to take home
3/23- 3/27 Spring break
There are no more Early Release Wednesdays for the rest of the school year. The only other early dismissal days will be the last three days of school 5/28, 5/29, 6/1.
Attention senior parents – your senior should have received a letter to take home regarding graduation tickets. If your student did not receive this letter they can go to the guidance office to pick up a copy of the letter. Also please check out the “Senior” Link on our school webpage for upcoming dates of senior activities. The link is found under the Parent/Student tab on the top of our main school webpage.
On February 13 & 14, Viera HS hosted the District 10 Florida Bandmasters’ Association Solo & Ensemble Music Performance Assessment. In addition, we participated in the event by sending 50 Instrumental Solos, 9 Color Guard Solos (flag/sabre/rifle), and 22 Small Ensembles (220 individual students) to be adjudicated by professionals from around the state. We had 234 students earn a Superior rating in the performances. Outstanding accomplishment by our students!
On February 19, Viera HS had two jazz bands participate in the District 10 Jazz Music Performance Assessment hosted at Satellite HS. Each band earned a Superior rating (42 individual students). Great job!
Congratulations to Viera Wrestling which finished 5th overall in the recent Cape Coast conference wrestling Tournament. We had three second place finishers overall and one third place finisher. Wrestling will compete in the District Tournament this Friday at St. Cloud High School.
Softball recently beat #8 Melbourne and continues its strong play and is currently ranked #3 in Class 7A!
Our track team ran well at the recent Palm Bay and Merritt Island meets. The next meet will be at home on Tuesday, March 3 at 4pm.
The varsity baseball team had a big win last night against a tough Bayside High team in extra innings. The team is 5-1 for the season!
Girls tennis also has started the season off strong with a 5-1 overall record.
