Mr. Alba recently released an update on this week to parents. Here are the major points! Students should check out the info for important happenings and dates as well!
VHS had five students selected to participate in All-State Bands, Orchestras and Choruses and they were able to perform this past weekend in Tampa. This is quite the honor and both VHS students and faculty are extremely proud.
This Saturday the All-County Orchestra concert will be held at Satellite High School with our Orchestra students performing at 3 pm.
All-County chorus will be held on Saturday, January 31st and our selected chorus students will be performing at 3 pm at the King Center.
All-County Band will also be held on January 31st at the King Center and our selected students will perform at 7:30 pm.
Some of our students’ art work is currently on display at the Melbourne Square Mall in front of Dick’s Sporting Goods. The last day to see their work is this Saturday and said work shows some extreme talent!
This past week we participated in our semi-annual blood drive. We had 140 VHS students sign up with 101 units of blood collected. This translates into 303 people that will benefit from our students’ gift of blood!
You can help support our VHS Marine Science Class by eating at the Viera Chipotle on 1/31 from 4pm – 8 pm. Chipotle will contribute 50% of the proceeds to customers that state or show that they are there to support the VHS Marine Science class!
Our boys Varsity basketball team had an exciting double overtime victory this past week against Bayside High School. Our Freshmen team and JV basketball teams also had strong victories. Thursday, 1/29 is senior night for the boys Varsity team so come on out and support the team by wearing a WHITE shirt for a home team “White Out” against Titusville. Tip-off is after the JV game at approximately 7 pm.
Tonight our boys soccer team plays in the district championship against Melbourne High School. The start time is 7pm in our Hawk Stadium. Come on out and support our players and coaches!
The girls soccer team won last night in the Regional Semi-final match with an impressive 8-0 victory against New Smyrna. The Regional Championship will be a home game for us on Tuesday, 1/27 against Melbourne High School. If the girls win this game they will go on to the State Championship! Let’s try to pack the stands with cheering fans! The cost is $7 per person as this is a regional game. Permission from the FHSAA has been received to sell tickets to students during lunch at a reduced cost of $5 the day of the game on 1/27.
Don’t forget that next Wednesday, 1/28, is an early release day and students will be dismissed from school at 2:15 pm.
Onwards to next week! – Social Media Editor
